SCAD senior’s winning holiday design now on display at Ellis Hotel

Ellis Hotel’s restaurant, Terrace on Peachtree, is ringing in the holiday cheer with Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) senior Monet Masters’ concept of “traditional chic” holiday décor. The downtown eco-friendly boutique hotel’s farm to table restaurant named Masters the winner of their holiday décor design competition for SCAD students, which included an extra challenge to “design on a dime,” with merely a $500 budget. Upon winning, Masters has transformed the already beautiful restaurant overlooking Peachtree Street and the Atlanta skyline into a wonderland of poinsettias, wreaths, candles, recycled wine bottles, as well as all the lights, shimmer, and bows to mark this special season. Masters’ design will be on display at the Terrace until January 1st, and is sure to make a trip to this Atlanta landmark an even grander treat!

One Kings Lane Design Bloggers Scholarship

Aspiring design bloggers: here’s your chance to take your work to the next level. One Kings Lane is offering scholarships to five worthy bloggers, sending you to the The Design Bloggers Conference at the Millennium Biltmore in LA February 26-28, 2012. Last year, the sold-out conference was THE place to network and learn more about the design blogosphere, so check out the details and apply!

The Rules:

  • Application deadline: November 15, 2011
  • Design Bloggers who have been regularly posting for six months or more are eligible
  • Applicants are asked to describe their blog, their financial need pertaining to the conference, and why they are deserving of sponsorship
  • The scholarships will be awarded through a committee selection process based on the above mentioned focus criteria
  • Winners of the scholarship will receive a free conference pass
  • Winners will be announced on December 1, 2011
  • The winners will also be invited to submit a guest blog to appear on the Design Bloggers Conference website profiling how they got started, their blog, and their aspirations
  • Entries should be sent via email to scholarship@design-bloggers-conference.com

Blue and white!

Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles’ April issue is devoted in its entirety to blue and white, and we’re also giving away one of the blue and white products featured in our Style section.

The antique astronomical map that’s shown on pages 6 and 16 is this month’s giveaway. The deadline to enter is 11:59 p.m., April 14, and the drawing will take place on April 15. We’ll announce the winner on our blog that day.

Final Giveaways

The last two weeks have been so much fun! We have so enjoyed giving away items from our showhouse designers!

We couldn’t end this series without giving a big, big thank you to the generous folks and shops who kindly donated the items for the contest.

So, without further adieu, we conclude the contest with two amazing prizes.

The first one is a certificate for a Sommelier’s Selection massage, compliments of the dreamy 29 Spa at The Mansion on Peachtree, A Rosewood Hotel & Residence. (The Mansion was host to our recent Christmas House.) The winner is Carol Daniel of Atlanta!

The second prize is a certificate for a one-night stay at The Mansion on Peachtree, which will include valet parking. The winner is Michael Kleeman of Atlanta! Congrats to all!
