This Roman-born, Chicago-based interior designer is known as much for her energetic, whimsical and comfortable interiors—peppered liberally with yellow and red—as a personal style that remains steadfastly rooted in the classics, even during an increasingly chaotic and homogeneous modern time. And when it comes to Branca, who’s been published countless times across the Web and in lauded national design publications, if you don’t know her by name, you are almost certain to know her work. Case in point: Remember this iconic Branca-designed family room featured in Southern Accents in 2008?
The inspiration, warmth and historical influences that characterize her rooms—and her colorful backstory—are captured most beautifully in her recently released monograph, New Classic Interiors (Abrams, $60). Already a bestseller, the book can be equally enjoyed by longtime Branca devotees as much as recent converts to her aesthetic, which makes her upcoming visit to Atlanta and book signing at Buckhead home furnishings boutique, Mrs. Howard, an occasion worth celebrating. This Thursday, renowned decorator Phoebe Howard and her cadre will host the designer and shop owner along with enthusiastic locals who will have a chance to take home her latest tome encased in a special-edition cover. The supply of books is expected to run out fast, though, so make haste in reserving your copy.
When: Thursday, February 18, 5-7 p.m.
RSVP: While the event is free, all attendees must R.S.V.P. to Leah Kennelly at lkennelly@jmhoward.net.
