Lake Oconee townhomes hoping to be going, going, gone

The Peninsula on Lake Oconee

If you’ve been tempted by deals on vacation homes, you may want to look at The Peninsula at Lake Oconee, which is open this weekend and every weekend for viewing prior to its Dec. 13 auction.

It’s being called a “close out” auction with 16 townhomes, of the community’s 36 units, available. Seven of them will have minimum bids of $250,000, which auction firm Sheldon Good & Co. says is a 64 percent discount off the original price. Past list prices I’ve seen on the Eatonton townhomes were from the $500,000s-$700,000s.

The Eatonton community is the only Georgia property on the upcoming list of auctions by Sheldon Good & Co., a premier real estate firm that also is handling the auction of the 13-acre Pillsbury Estate in Minnesota. The Peninsula’s auction will be at the Renaissance Waverly Hotel on 2450 Galleria Parkway in Atlanta.
