In the latest installment of our online series that focuses on house styles around Atlanta, Lori Johnston gives us the inside scoop on French architecture. Do you often drive by a house that you love, but aren’t exactly sure of its “style?” Send us a picture and we’ll get to the bottom of it!
This home on Tuxedo Road was designed by William B. Litchfield, whose clients previously had a formal Georgian home and envisioned an informal stone cottage in the woods.
Thanks to James with the Limestone and Boxwoods blog for the tip and the photo.

Excellent post – I have been waiting for this! The house is so beautiful, and it is great to get some of the background information from the perspective of the architect. I was curious about the clay tile roof, and the reasoning behind the selection makes a lot of sense.
I actually think the arch that you note as the porte cochere is the front door, but to the right (out of the range of the picture) there is a charming arched porte cochere that mimics the arched shape of the front door.
Great post!

Such a fun blog on the elite homes of Georgia!! My family and I own a wonderful green company in Atlanta that assists homeowners with going green – through geothermal, solar, wind, rainwater collection technology. I would like to share our company with your bloggers.
